AFCANSW Training

The Adolescent and Family Counsellors Association co-ordinates affordable training opportunities for practitioners interested in youth and family work each calendar year.

Guest presenters are invited to present on a diverse range of topics, modalities, research, experience and practices which have implication for work with adolescents and families. AFCA also supports its members with opportunities to present and lead discussions on work being undertaken within services.

The Neurophysiological Dimensions of the Therapeutic Alliance

The therapeutic alliance that exists at a neurophysiological level and how that applies when working with young people and families. This training can be accredited to 5 hours of profession development.


Presented by Dr Trisha Stratford.

Trisha is a registered Clinical Neuro Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. She has a PhD in neuroscience a Masters in Psychotherapy, Masters in Counselling and is a registered Psychoanalytical/Psychosynthesis Psychotherapist. 

Trisha lectures in Neuroscience in the Medicine Faculty at Notre Dame University and in Medical Science at the University of Technology Sydney. She also is an academic educator in the Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy degree at ACAP and supervises intern counsellors.
